Naverra Music Collective

Naverra Music Collective (@naverramc), is a a grassroots instrument library and mobile recording studio created with the intention of eliminating barriers in musical experience. It is typical that musicians of any age are limited to what instruments they have access to, especially in elementary and highs-school programs. This often means that students only have access to student models of instruments that are typically cheaper to manufacture, such as flutes and trumpets, and are left without the opportunity to play larger and more expensive instruments, like the tuba and bassoon. It is possible that if given the chance, these individuals would thrive on instruments they would normally have no access to. Similarly, even when students have the ability to play instruments through a school program, they often aren't able to take them home for private practice, necessitating the purchase or rental of a personal instrument. Naverra Music Collective's growing instrument library aims to tackle both the issues of general access and expensive rental fees. By operating on a pay-what-you-can/ pay it forward donation model, it is possible for a student to have access to instruments at little to no cost to them. A monthly tuba rental at popular outfitters in Canada starts at 70 dollars, which is often prohibitively expensive. Naverra aims to give individuals the opportunity to find their new favorite instrument, whether it's a banjo, a trombone, or anything in-between, without worrying if they will be able to afford it.

In a similar vein, Naverra Music Collective strives to develop a collection of recording equipment capable of delivering professional quality to hobbyist and rising star alike. Booking time in a studio is expensive and often limiting; Naverra allows for anyone to gain experience in the music production process, from initial recording to final mastering. Naverra strives to offer recording studio experiences that would normally be impossible without a connection to the industry or access to specialized equipment. Through this program, everyone can participate in music making and recording, helping to create life-long music enthusiasts and reduce the number of individuals that stop playing music once it is no longer a required course.
